Serious Fun! A 9 month road trip – 2004/05

We had been together for nearly two years living, loving, climbing, surfing and boarding. Summer 2003 was spent slack lining in the loacl park, this gave us a taste for the stress free lifestyle, a plan was hatched, to bunk off work for 9 months (or as long as lasted). The plan, 1. spend the snow season in Fernie relishing the powder days 2. stock up for a trip down the Baja Peninsular surfing, 3. surviving Baja we aimed to tackle the best climbing America had to offer.

Our first holiday together. I was revising for my final exams but we decided to take a well earned break to go climbing in Catalunya, with Gee, Ollie and Eva. I climbed for 2 weeks and under Patricks expert coaching managed to climb my first 7 pitch route.

A successful trip to Yosemite in 2001 with John, Moray and myself. We had a great time and made it up a couple of big wall’s including Zodiac in 4 days without using our hammer.

I went on a 5 week road trip around Morocco with my friend Suey during the summer holidays of my second year at uni. It was quite an experience. A bit like marmite I both loved it and hated it.

My first summer holidays at Uni and I managed to head off to Tanzania & Zanzibar for 5 weeks with my friend Suey. It was my first proper backpacking travelling trip and I loved it.

Hannah’s gap year trip to Belize – 2000

In 2000 I went away with Raleigh International for 3 months to Belize.  I was 18 and it was my first real time away from home.  I took part in various environmental and community projects including tracking the Fer-De-Lance snake, thatching the roof of a remote visitors centre and plastering the walls of a rural mountain school. It was amazing experience and one that sowed the bug of all things travel and culture. On my return to Blighty I was more than ready to start my degree in Social Anthropology.
