In 2000 I went away with Raleigh International for 3 months to Belize. I was 18 and it was my first real time away from home. I took part in various environmental and community projects including tracking the Fer-De-Lance snake, thatching the roof of a remote visitors centre and plastering the walls of a rural mountain school. It was amazing experience and one that sowed the bug of all things travel and culture. On my return to Blighty I was more than ready to start my degree in Social Anthropology.
